UpToDate® is getting an update. Beginning January 11, you will be prompted to log in when accessing UpToDate. This is a quick, one-time registration for those who have not previously registered, and is free and easy to do.

Last month, we shared the exciting news that we are redesigning the NIH Library website and will be launching the new site in January 2017. A key component of our redesign process is making sure the new website meets your needs. That is where you come in. We are looking for NIH staff to help test the new site in early December. Through this process, you will have an opportunity to influence the design of the new NIH Library website.

If you need an article, book, or other item that is not available in the NIH Library’s collection, the Library can usually still get it for you through our online article and book request system. On Monday, November 21, the NIH Library is launching a new request system called ILLiad which will allow the Library to improve response times and offer a more personalized experience for this service.

If you have ever wanted to code but thought it was too hard to learn, now is a great time to dive in and get started. The international Hour of Codeis a global event designed to demystify programming and make it more accessible to people of all ages and backgrounds with several one-hour programming classes.

Do you need to record an interview or podcast, practice a presentation, create an online tutorial, or host a webinar? The NIH Library has launched a Digital Production Studio to help you.

The NIH Library is celebrating GIS Day on November 16 with a special presentation on mapping and data services available for the NIH community. This special GIS Day event will explore GIS and mapping services offered by the NIH Library. The session will also feature a presentation on analyzing spatial data and building maps in Tableau 10, a data visualization tool.

We wanted to share some exciting news. We have been hard at work redesigning the NIH Library website as part of our effort to continually improve our online presence. The new site won’t launch until January 2017, but we wanted to share a sneak peek now.
