Virtual Reality and Innovative Technologies at the NIH Library During the Research Festival

Mark your calendars for the NIH Research Festival, September 12-14. During the Festival, we will be highlighting innovative technologies we make available from the NIH Library to support research at NIH. Join us in the Library for some (educational) fun on Wednesday and Thursday, September 12 and 13, from 12 to 4 p.m. We will be offering demonstrations of Virtual Reality (VR), 3D printing, and our Digital Production Studio.

Virtual Reality Demonstrations

Immerse yourself in VR headsets and experience first-hand how virtual reality can enhance your basic or clinical research. We think you will like what you see…or, at least, what you think you are seeing. Demonstrations will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.

3D Printing

3D printing is changing how we do science by empowering investigators to create their own custom-made lab tools. Dream it; code it; print it. Stop by to see amazing 3D prints and learn how you can 3D print (for free) at the NIH Library.

Digital Production Studio

Stop by the NIH Library’s Digital Production Studio to learn how you can make your own video, record a podcast, or practice your presentation in front of the camera. While you are there, step in front of the camera to share your thoughts about the Research Festival, or about your research at NIH. The footage captured during the Festival will be used in a video about IRP research.

The NIH Library is just around the corner from the Masur Auditorium and the FAES Terrace. Please stop by on your way to or from the Research Festival events.

In addition to the demonstrations in the NIH Library, we will also have a table at the Special Exhibits on Resources for Intramural Research in the Building 10 South Lobby on all three days of the Festival. See the General Schedule of Events page for specific times. Be sure to stop by and learn more about the Library’s extensive resources and services.

We look forward to seeing you there!
