  • Director's Message―December 2017

    With the holiday season upon us, it is a great time to reflect on the past year, celebrate our many successes, and plan for the future. In my previous messages, I’ve highlighted some of the NIH Library’s achievements over 2017.

  • NIH Library Training Class: Partek Flow, RNA-Seq

    This class will provide hands-on training with RNA-Seq analysis in Partek Flow. The morning portion of the class will introduce the software using a sample RNA-Seq dataset, and will cover: data import, QA/QC, alignment, quantification and normalization, differential expression analysis, visualizations, and biological interpretation. The afternoon session will continue with these topics and conclude with an overview of fusion gene detection and a Q&A session.

  • The New NIH Library Website Launches April 3

    We redesigned the website to improve your access to the Library’s information resources and services. The April 3 launch is only the first stage of our ongoing website work. In the coming year, we will continue to develop and update the site’s content and features based on input from you.

  • The NIH Big Read: Dr. Siddhartha Mukherjee and “The Gene: An Intimate History”

    The NIH Big Read will feature a series of book discussions and an author presentation about  “The Gene: An Intimate History” (2016) by Dr. Siddhartha Mukherjee, the Pulitzer Prize-winning, best-selling author of “The Emperor of All Maladies: A Biography of Cancer” (2010). The NIH Big Read will conclude with an event featuring the author, Dr. Siddhartha Mukherjee, on April 17, in Masur Auditorium (Building 10), 2:00–3:00 p.m.

  • Step into your research at the NIH Library’s Virtual Reality (VR) demos

    The first VR demo session will be held March 7 and features an introduction to the Library’s new HTC Vive system, followed by a demo of Chimera, a program for interactive visualization and analysis of molecular structures and related data.
