    With the holiday season upon us, it is a great time to reflect on the past year, celebrate our many successes, and plan for the future. In my previous messages, I’ve highlighted some of the NIH Library’s achievements over 2017.

  • Virtual Reality Consulting Service

    Have you thought about integrating Virtual Reality (VR) into your research, but don’t know where to start? Starting May 12, the NIH Library is offering a new drop-in VR Consultation Service, available by appointment every Friday, 12 – 3 p.m. This service is free for all NIH and HHS staff.

  • The New NIH Library Website Launches April 3

    We redesigned the website to improve your access to the Library’s information resources and services. The April 3 launch is only the first stage of our ongoing website work. In the coming year, we will continue to develop and update the site’s content and features based on input from you.

    It’s my pleasure to welcome you to the NIH Library and share a few exciting developments.

  • The NIH Big Read: Dr. Siddhartha Mukherjee and “The Gene: An Intimate History”

    The NIH Big Read will feature a series of book discussions and an author presentation about  “The Gene: An Intimate History” (2016) by Dr. Siddhartha Mukherjee, the Pulitzer Prize-winning, best-selling author of “The Emperor of All Maladies: A Biography of Cancer” (2010). The NIH Big Read will conclude with an event featuring the author, Dr. Siddhartha Mukherjee, on April 17, in Masur Auditorium (Building 10), 2:00–3:00 p.m.

  • Step into your research at the NIH Library’s Virtual Reality (VR) demos

    The first VR demo session will be held March 7 and features an introduction to the Library’s new HTC Vive system, followed by a demo of Chimera, a program for interactive visualization and analysis of molecular structures and related data.

  • OmicCircos: Data Visualization for Data Integration―December 9th

    OmicCircos is a free tool used to generate high-quality circular plots for visualizing annotations and genomic variations, including mutation patterns, copy number variations (CNVs), expression patterns, and methylation patterns.

  • BioBots Bioprinter Demonstration December 10

    The BioBot 1 is a desktop bioprinter that builds 3D tissues from cells. It has a dual extruder system that uses visible blue light to cure biomaterials without harming cells, and it has 100 um resolution.
