Dr. Emir Khatipov joined the NIH Library in July 2018 for a 120 day detail to serve as the acting coordinator of the NIH Library Bioinformatics Support Program.
Emir comes to us from the National Library of Medicine’s (NLM) Division of Library Operations (LO), Bibliographic Services Division (BSD), MEDLARS Management Section (MMS). Emir has ~18 years working experience in academia as a researcher, including appointments in the Japan’s New Energy Development Organization and the University of Chicago. His research background can be generally pinpointed to microbiology, biochemistry, and biotechnology. Emir also worked for GeneGo, the systems biology company that created MetaCore, as a project coordinator and customer liaison at the NCI-Frederick developing data analysis pipelines and helping customers to design sequencing experiments involving various next generation sequencing technologies. In the past 6 years, he has been supporting NLM’s biomedical terminology services including development of a number of video-based educational resources.
