Nancy Muir

NIH Library Director

Nancy Muir is the Director of the National Institutes of Health Library, a biomedical research library that provides premier research services to the NIH Community and several HHS groups. She joined the NIH Library in January 2021 as the Branch Chief for Educational Services overseeing the Library’s outreach activities and instructional program. Nancy is focused on continuing to deliver information solutions that will help NIH and HHS make biomedical discoveries and improve health.

Nancy received her undergraduate degree in biology from Wittenberg University and her Masters in Library Science from the University of Maryland. She has an extensive history working in biomedical libraries including information research and instructional roles at the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP), Gillette Medical Evaluation Laboratories (GMEL) and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Before joining NIH, she built and led the MedImmune virtual library and after being acquired by AstraZeneca, her team went on to support biotech R&D competitive intelligence and the biotech unit’s intranet site.
