Introduction to Adobe After Effects
Adobe After Effects is a software tool used for creating visual effects, motion graphic designs, and animations. The class provides an overview of the interface and demonstrates software fundamentals, including working with composite layers and keyframes. This introductory class is for participants who have minimal or no experience with video editing applications. Participants are not required to have access to Adobe After Effects to attend this class
Intermediate Adobe Premiere Pro
Adobe Premiere Pro, which is part of the Adobe Creative Cloud Suite, is video editing software for film, TV, and the web. This intermediate class will demonstrate advanced post-production techniques using this software. Participants will learn how to bring their video projects to the next level with graphics, popular effects, and audio editing. Previous experience with Adobe Premiere Pro is recommended.
Video Recording and Presenting From Anywhere
Video is increasingly being used to share scientific information, whether as part of an online conference, educational course, or promotional tool. This class will share tips and tricks for preparing media, capturing high quality images and sound, and ensuring an overall professional appearance. Specific guidance for remote presentations, video abstracts, and audiovisual software and equipment will also be provided.
Tables, Charts, and Figures for Publication
Tables, charts, and figures are often used to describe and share complex scientific information. However, it can be difficult to determine when it's appropriate to use these visual tools and how to design them effectively. During this session, participants will learn the best practices for creating tables, charts, and figures and how to customize them for specific journal requirements. An overview of design tools and resources will also be provided.
Introduction to Camtasia
Camtasia is an all-in-one screen recording and editing software suite used to create video tutorials and presentations. In this introductory class, participants will learn how to use this tool to record their screen, add narration, video effects, transitions, and more. The class also provides an overview of basic controls and features available in Camtasia, during which participants will gain skills to produce a video from beginning to end.
Introduction to Adobe Illustrator
This session will build a foundation for using Adobe Illustrator, a vector art tool available for use in the NIH Library Technology Hub. This introductory class is geared for participants new to Illustrator or for those interested in a refresher. The instructor will demonstrate software fundamentals, including working with colors and graphs, drawing and editing figures, and using layers.
Introduction to Adobe Photoshop
This introductory class is geared for participants new to Adobe Photoshop or for those who need a refresher. This session will build a foundation for using Photoshop and understanding its most popular tools. Participants will become familiar with the Photoshop interface and commonly used features of this powerful design program. The instructor will demonstrate advanced fundamentals including working with layers and changing backgrounds.
3D Printing and Modeling Fundamentals
3D printing is revolutionizing biomedical research by enabling scientists to engage in creative problem solving, build customized solutions, and develop faster prototypes of their ideas. Join us to learn about the NIH Library's free 3D Printing service and how you can utilize it by printing free online models or designing your own. Participants will understand how 3D printers work and how this technology is being applied at NIH, locate resources for 3D printing software and models, and manipulate shapes to create a basic design using TinkerCAD, a free online tool.

In this introductory class, participants will learn how to use this powerful tool to edit videos during post-production of video projects. The class will provide an overview of basic concepts for working with videos, during which participants will gain skills on how to import and edit video and audio files.
ArcGIS Spatial Analysis
Provides advanced spatial modeling and analysis tools. It helps with modeling terrains, finding suitable locations and routes, discovering spatial patterns, and performing hydrologic and statistical analysis.
ArcGIS Pro
Supports data visualization, advanced analysis and authoritative data maintenance in both 2D and 3D. ArcGIS Pro supports data sharing across ArcGIS Online and ArcGIS Enterprise through Web GIS.
Alicia Lillich
Alicia joined the NIH Library in May 2019 as the Emerging Technologies Specialist. Prior to joining the NIH Library, Alicia worked as the Technology Coordinator for the National Network of Libraries of Medicine, MidContinental Region. She earned a Masters of Library Science degree from Emporia State University.
