This lecture will briefly review some of the steps involved during data analysis and how study design, hypothesis, and type of data and their distributions contribute to the choice of statistical tests. Statistical tests are used to determine the presence and strength of a relationship between independent and outcome variables. The basic concepts around the use and interpretation of the following statistical tests will be covered: chi-square, paired and two-sample t-tests, ANOVA, correlations, simple and multiple regression, logistic regression, and a few non-parametric tests.
