Information Resources for Clinical Researchers

The NIH Library offers training on many databases and resources useful for identifying published information. Classes are offered on a diverse set of topics ranging from finding published articles and clinical information, to article and author-specific information, to searching for regulatory information and chemical structures. Databases covered include PubMed, Web of Science, Scopus, and MediRegs.

Session Description

Do you know why it’s important to search beyond PubMed for clinical information?
Have you heard of Embase, Pharmaprojects, Cochrane, ToxNet and PsycINFO?
Do you know how to use the “-“ operator in Google and Google Scholar?

Answers to these questions and more are presented in this class. Additionally, this class will present a brief overview of the scope and features of clinical/biomedical research information resources, including:

  • PubMed & Embase, evidence-based and clinical trials databases
  • Other information resources of particular value in high-impact clinical care
  • Opportunities to obtain additional detailed information and specific training
