This one-hour online training focuses on the practical use of NVivo for exploring, coding, comparing, and visualizing qualitative data. This training covers tools for exploring data files, including the Query Wizard, word clouds, tree maps, and cluster maps. Attendees will see coding strategies demonstrated within NVivo by creating codes (nodes), reviewing methods for coding, and merging codes. In addition, the training introduces visualization and comparison tools such as hierarchy charts, file comparison, code comparison, and word frequency analysis.
By the end of this training, attendees will be able to:
Describe options for exploring data files in NVivo
Use the Query Wizard and visual exploration tools such as word clouds, tree maps, and cluster maps
Create codes (nodes) and distinguish between different methods for coding textual data
Identify strategies for merging and organizing codes
Generate visualizations such as hierarchy charts, cluster maps, circle graphs, matrix coding query chart, or framework matrix chart.
Requirement(s):
Attendees are expected to have basic familiarity with NVivo software. If new to NVivo, please attend Part 1 of this series before registering for Part 2.
Attendees are expected to have basic knowledge of qualitative analysis methods. Before this training, think about an upcoming project and how you plan to organize, code, compare, and visualize your data in NVivo.
