
The NIH Library is offering an Introduction to Bibliometrics series intended for intramural researchers who want to learn about the impact of their research through publication metrics. Introduction to Bibliometrics

This class will cover key bibliometric theories and concepts, providing an overview of different types of metrics (including alternative metrics), and a closer look at the limitations and potential misuse of bibliometrics.
Bibliometrics Data Sources

This class will compare data sources for bibliometric analyses, including Web of Science, Scopus, Google Scholar, and Dimensions.ai.
Bibliometrics Tools
July 16, 11:00 am‒12:00 pm
This class will introduce a toolkit of online resources for network analysis and dashboard creation and provide an overview of tools for bibliometric analysis from the NIH Office of Portfolio Analysis (OPA) and subscription tools from Clarivate.
Creating Citation Reports with InCites
July 18, 11:00 am‒12:00 pm
This session will demonstrate how to locate publications in Web of Science, analyze citation data in Web of Science and InCites to locate country-specific metrics, first/corresponding authorship data, and create shareable online reports and dashboards in InCites.
Creating Network Visualizations with VOSviewer
July 23, 1:00‒2:00 pm
This session will provide an overview on how to locate publications in Web of Science and create co-authorship and keyword co-occurrence networks in VOSviewer.
Resources for Identifying Experts in a Field
July 25, 1:00‒2:15 pm
This class will provide an overview of databases and author profile websites to help locate experts in a research field.
